Information

At St. Elmo Presbyterian Church, we want to help our youth experience the wonder of God’s grace in Jesus, be transformed by it, and learn to live every part of life in light of it. We desire to be a welcoming and authentic spiritual family who worships God in gospel-centered fellowship and loves others in gospel-centered service.

Values: Our ministry aims to be...

Gospel-centered

We want our students to know Jesus through the gospel truths that are revealed in his Word. We want them to have a biblical worldview that is shaped by the gospel message of who Jesus is, what he has accomplished, why that matters, and how they can live in fellowship with him.

Family-focused

We want to partner with and encourage our parents as they raise their children, not to be a substitute for parental discipleship. The best youth ministry occurs between godly parents and their children within a local church body. This also means our ministry is geared towards the needs of our congregation as we seek to honor the vows of our covenant members. Yet we joyfully invite and welcome friends and visitors to participate in our spiritual family!

Discipleship-oriented

We want to help our students develop into mature Christians, rooted and grounded in grace, through gradual spiritual growth rather than temporary spiritual highs. This is done best through intergenerational discipleship, where older members of our spiritual family invest in our younger members, anticipating that they will grow into leaders and disciplers themselves.

Relationally-driven

We want to reflect a true spiritual family and be a part of each other’s lives. Whether it’s getting together for a meal, eating lunch at school, or attending extracurricular activities, we want to be in the lives of our students and families.

Programs and Events

Youth Sunday School:

During the school year, Sunday School classes are offered for youth and children, from 3 years old through 12th grade. We begin together at 9:15am with a time of fellowship and snacks, then move to various age-appropriate classes from 9:30 – 10:15. The current classes are:

  • Pre-K: 3y/o – Kindergarten
  • Elementary: 1st – 5th grade
  • Middle School: 6th – 8th grade
  • High School: 9th – 12th grade
Vacation Bible School

Every summer St. Elmo Presbyterian Church welcomes children from the neighborhood and the church for a week-long VBS adventure. …

Youth Group:

During the school year, Youth Group is offered for Middle and High School students on Sunday nights. We gather at the church from 6 – 8pm for singing, teaching, discussion, games, and (of course) snacks! Though sometimes we swap these days, we often take a break on the first Sunday of the month, due to the church-wide fellowship lunch after the worship service. Over the summer, we meet once a month for fellowship, dinner, and an abbreviated lesson.

Youth Events:

Throughout the year, we love setting up times to have fun together. These events aren’t always the same, and can happen somewhat spontaneously as students bring up great and fun ideas. Events in the past have been a summer boat day, going to a jump park, putt-putt, and even an overnight lock-in!
